BACK PANEL SEALANTS

GAS SAFE REGISTER TM1
It is important that an effective seal is maintained between the rear of the back panel and the wall plasterwork. This seal may be achieved by various products, as shown below : Ceramic fibre, fire surround sealing tape, Bostik sealant, fire cement.

Ceramic Fibre

25 mm ceramic fibre. British Gas plc installation instructions recommend that with a fire resistant fire surround in position, a gap of over 9 mm round the opening should be filled with 25 mm ceramic fibre.

Sealant Bostik

British Gas plc installation instructions recommend that with a fire-resistant fire surround in position, a gap of less than 9 mm around the opening should be filled with the sealant Bostik 1581. Bostik Bond-flex 100 HMA Silicone Sealant has replaced 1581. It is a single part, high-modulus, clear acetoxy-type silicone rubber sealant. Fire Surround Sealing Tape

Soft foam tape for sealing fire surrounds 12 mm x 12 mm (about 1/2" sq.), sticky on one face. Colour/White. Recommended operating temperature : -80 °C to 100 °C.
