British Gas plc installation instructions recommend that with a fire-resistant fire surround in position, a gap of less than 9 mm around the opening should be filled with the sealant Bostik 1581. Bostik Bond-flex 100 HMA Silicone Sealant has replaced 1581. It is a single part, high-modulus, clear acetoxy-type silicone rubber sealant. A white double sided foam pressure fixing tape with a high tack permanent acrylic adhesive. Used in gas fire fixing applications, for example attaching aluminium angle plates to the fireplace. | Aluminium Angle Infills | |||||||||||

Used to fill in fireplace openings together with a closure plate. Made from thin aluminium, the angles can easily be cut and bent to shape. By cutting inverted Vs along one of the angles they can also be bent to form an arch, and so follow a curved fire opening. British Gas plc job instructions show these angles being used with double sided tape (P/N 6980 shown above) and closure plates. These infills may be used as shown in the illustration to provide the face for the closure plate. If the fireplace has no overhang a third infill may be used along the top. | ||||||||||
