Gas Purging Equipment GAS SAFE REGISTER TM

Procedures for the soundness testing and purging of industrial and commercial installations are set out in IGE/UP/1 and IGE/UP/1A, published by the Institution of Gas Engineers. We sell this publication, it can be found by clicking the following link: Publications. This document effectively replaces the previous British Gas plc documents lM/2 and lM/5.
Products mentioned in this document which are available on this website are as follows:

1 Flame arrestors. See below, click the following link: Flame arrestors
2 Reinforced hose. See below, click the following link: Reinforced flexible hose
3 Pressure gauges, water and high specific gravity manometers.Click the following link: Pressure Gauges
4 Gas meters. The procedures recommend that the rate of flow of gas is maintained continuously above a calculated level. To monitor this a meter which can give the instantaneous flow rate is ideal. The turbine gas meters (with LCD display) are ideal for this purpose. Alternatively a diaphragm meter can be used together with a timing device: this does not however give an instantaneous flow rate.
5 Gas ball valves, these can be found by clicking the following link: Full Bore Gas Service Ball Valves
6 Continuity bonds. Click the following link: Continuity bonds
7 Expanding Plugs. Click the following link: Expanding Plugs

FLAME ARRESTORS FOR PURGING & VENTING

These light duty end-of-line flame arrestors (also known as safety vents) are suitable for purging and venting gas lines - Natural Gas and LPG. Do not use hydrogen or refrigeration gases. They are safety devices only. They are designed to prevent flashback, and to contain or extinguish a flame where the gas being purged or vented could be accidentally ignited. They are essential safety equipment for the protection of plant and personnel from risk of fire and explosion. They have zinc alloy pressure die-cast housings and stainless steel 316 arrestor elements and are fitted with aluminium weather hoods. Flame tested to BS 7244: 1990. To BS EN 12874:2001.

DIAPHRAGM PURGING METER

A robust diaphragm meter with cast aluminium body and support bracket. Weather resistant. Because of the above qualities it is suitable as a diaphragm purging meter. It must nevertheless be handled with reasonable care - the internal mechanism is still delicate. Maximum flow rate: 6 m³/hour. Working pressure: 0.5 bar maximum. Weight: 3.7 kilos. Size: 282 mm high, 198 mm wide, 155 mm deep, 130 mm centres. Supplied with unions to give 3/4" BSP T male inlet and outlet.
