Hexagon locknuts secure compatible threaded components through panels, tanks and other suitable surfaces. They can also be used to lock the position of a threaded fitting where the installation design permits.

The male BSP thread connects to the system, while the ribbed tail helps retain a correctly sized hose when used with an appropriate hose clip or clamp. Before ordering, check the required fitting type and direction, the BSP thread size, whether it is a male or female connection, whether it is equal or reducing dimensions, the fluid or gas compatibility, and the space available for installation and tightening.
BSP sizes are nominal pipe sizes and do not match the measured outside diameter of the thread. Measure the thread carefully and compare it with the BSP dimensions shown on our individual product pages.
The screwed fittings in this category are manufactured from 316 stainless steel. Both 304 and 316 grades provide corrosion resistance, but 316 contains molybdenum, giving it improved resistance in many environments involving moisture, chemicals or chlorides.
The correct material still depends on the fluid, temperature, pressure, cleaning products and installation environment. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant rather than completely corrosion-proof.
Use a jointing method suitable for the application and thread type. Keep threads clean, avoid cross-threading, and support the pipework so its weight does not strain the fitting. Stainless steel threads can be susceptible to galling if assembled dry or overtightened. Use a compatible thread sealant or tape where appropriate, and tighten with correctly sized tools. Gas work must be completed and tested by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
