What is UKIMS?
UKIMS refers to the UK Internal Market Scheme, a framework established by the UK Government to regulate the movement of goods within the United Kingdom, particularly between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
By participating in UKIMS, BES confirms its compliance with the scheme’s requirements, ensuring that goods are handled in accordance with UK internal market regulations.
Why is UKIMS Important?
From 1 May 2025, in line with updated UK Government regulations, all UK businesses are required to collect a declaration of compliance from customers in Northern Ireland. This declaration confirms that goods shipped to Northern Ireland will not be subject to commercial processing outside the region.
This legal requirement is part of the UK’s commitment to the Northern Ireland Protocol and is essential to:
- Maintain regulatory alignment within the United Kingdom
- Facilitate efficient and uninterrupted customs procedures
- Ensure compliance with trade legislation
- Protect consumer safety and uphold the integrity of the UK internal market
- Adhering to UKIMS enables businesses to operate smoothly within the UK while respecting legal obligations and supporting trusted trade practices.
What This Means for You?
If you are a customer based in Northern Ireland, you are required to confirm your compliance with UKIMS before we can dispatch your order. This confirmation is a legal requirement and helps ensure your goods can be delivered without delay.
You can do this by either:
- Confirming your compliance during the checkout process, or
- Visiting bes.co.uk/UKIMS to complete the declaration via DocuSign
This only needs to be done once, unless your business circumstances change. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us remain compliant and ensure the smooth delivery of your goods.
